Founders often ask us: "realistically, how long will our SaaS MVP take?" Here's what a typical 6-8 week MVP timeline looks like when working with an experienced development team.
Week 1: Scoping & Architecture
We map out your core user flows, decide what's in scope for v1 (and just as importantly, what's not), and choose the right tech stack and data model for your product.
Weeks 2-3: Core Build
Authentication, the main data model, and your primary user-facing screens get built first. This is usually the biggest chunk of development time, since it's the foundation everything else sits on.
Weeks 4-5: Billing, Roles & Secondary Features
Once the core flow works, we add subscription billing, role-based permissions (if you have multiple user types), and secondary features that support your core value proposition.
Week 6: QA & Polish
Cross-browser and cross-device testing, edge-case handling, and UI polish. This is also when we typically do a walkthrough demo with the founder for final feedback.
Weeks 7-8: Launch & Handover
Deployment, analytics setup, and documentation handover. For many of our clients, this is also when we start scoping the next iteration based on early user feedback.
Why Timelines Slip
The most common cause of MVP delays isn't development — it's scope creep. Every "just one more feature" added mid-build pushes your launch date back. A disciplined MVP scope, agreed upfront, is the single biggest lever for hitting your timeline.
